【主题】：the impact of rural pensions in china on living arrangements, migration and off-farm employment of adult children
【摘要】：by drawing on a detailed household survey targeting the elderly fielded in laiwu county of shandong province in july 2012, we use the eligibility age to analyze the economic impact of pension receipt through a regression discontinuity design. we show that: 1) even though the pension represents only 10% of average income and households could anticipate receipt, regression discontinuity reveals a perceptible difference in household behavior around the age of pension eligibility, suggesting that these households must be credit constrained; and 2) after the older parent receives a pension, the adult children are more likely to take an off-farm job and to migrate to other areas in search of such jobs.
